The fried fish, always freshly prepared, deserves applause for its crunchy batter, paired perfectly with hand-cut chips. Many guests rave about the generous portion sizes, ensuring no one leaves hungry. The dessert menu captivates with various apple pie options complemented by ice cream or cream. I’ve also spotted several locals enjoying the tea selection, known for its quality and variety. The friendly staff consistently receive mentions in reviews for their attentive, pleasant service, contributing to the overall cozy vibe. And let’s not forget the children’s menu, making it a welcoming spot for families with picky eaters.

Most Disliked

Some diners express frustration regarding the inconsistency in the chips, with a few noting that they can be hit or miss depending on the day. Others have commented on the lack of parking near the restaurant, which can be a challenge during peak hours. Though the menu is extensive, some visitors wish there were more innovative seafood options held alongside the classic dishes. On weekends, the rush during dinner can lead to longer wait times, especially during peak hours like Saturday at 5 PM. Lastly, few customers have mentioned that the seating can feel cramped when the restaurant is full, slightly affecting their dining comfort.

Friendly staff, excellent fish and chips at a very reasonable price. I tried haggas for the 1st time and while I have nothing to compare it to, it was delicious! At least a dozen locals visited while we were here, many ordering take away. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Gorgeous food. So chippy chips are hit and miss for me, but these were well and truly spot on. The pizza I had alongside it was amazing too. Very friendly staff too. Would highly recommend it!

Popped in here earlier as I had an hour to spare in town before the cinema and had always walked past. It was brilliant, fish was superb and chips lovely too. Had the small fish tea with a coffee instead, the coffee was great. Love that the fish tea comes with buttered white bread. Friendly service and great food.

During our visit to this chip shop, my wife and I enjoyed a delightful small fish tea supper each, which was generously portioned, as shown in the picture. The quality of the food was excellent, and we were truly impressed by the brilliant service; there wasn't a single fault to be found. The menu boasted a wide variety of options, including the expected fish and chips choices, as well as pizzas, egg dishes, pies, pasta, toasties, jackets, sandwiches, paninis, and mouthwatering desserts. If you're seeking a local chippy experience, this is the place to be – we highly recommend it. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

It’s been 10 days I’m traveling in UK, and by far this is the best fish and chips I tried so far! Portion is double, it’s fresh and taste amazing! I prefer takeout over dining since it’s a small place!
